Recognized Degree in Mining Engineering or Mining discipline
Mine Managers Certificate of Competence
Must have a Completion of a Senior / Executive Management Development programme
Registration with ECSA
Previous project management experience is needed
Minimum of 8- 10 years’ experience in a trackless underground mining environment
With at least 3- 5 years’ experience gained in a very Senior management /OR General Manager position (must be Opco level)
Lead the delivery Mine’s strategic objectives, whilst giving effect to pursuit of zero harm of the mine.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including neighbouring mines, municipalities, relevant government departments and communities
Develop and direct the execution of operating policies to support Mine’s overall objectives and achieve best-in-class operational benchmarks
Drive employee engagement, goal clarification and empowerment through the Opco Team
Ensure compliance to Section 4(1) and 3(1)(a) Mine Health and Safety Act legal appointment requirements
Ensure quality control of all operational activities – i.e. business sustainability, legal stipulations and equity
Ensure the Mine has a comprehensive succession management strategy in place
Lead the preparation and submission of annual operational business plans
Maximise operational profitability by driving cost reductions, operational excellence and incorporate risk management into all production planning and execution
Monitor adherence to the Mine’s health, safety, environmental and security management systems and standards in pursuit of a culture of zero harm
Participate and liaise with professional bodies and forums in order to bring information on trends, technology and Mining industry practices to the Mine
Provide people leadership incorporating the company ethics and values
Ensure good service delivery from Mine owned support facilities in order to improve morale and productivity
Take a leading role to ensure the attraction, retention and development of key talent
Broad knowledge of underground mining operations and processes
