Human Resources Payroll Officer | Manufacturing | eThekwini - Durban
Salary: R25k CTC – To Start ASAP

Purpose of Position:
Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a Human Resources & Payroll Officer for a manufacturing client based in eThekwini, Durban, Kwazulu Natal. This is a permanent position based in close to Pietermaritzburg, candidates must have their own reliable transport and be able to work extended hours when required. Core functions are payroll and duties as detailed below. Experience in a large, high pressurised environment essential.

Duties
• Processes an organisation's payroll in a timely & accurate manner. Creates & maintains employees' payroll records. Process new employee, capture leave, ensure all details are correct & up to date on the System
• Calculations wages and applicable deductions based on employee attendance & timesheet records. Enters payroll information into central system for processing. Issues employees' checks and earnings summaries.
• Completes payroll reports. Compile, update and maintain employee records (hard and soft copies)
• Administer staff benefits like Medical Aid and Pension
• Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
• Assist with recruitment – placing of advertisement, screening of CV’s, processing application and
ensuring pre-employments checks are completed
• Issue employment contracts
• Co-ordinate and conduct exit interviews
• Issuing of UI19 forms and Certificate of Service
• Liaise with Workman’s Compensation Fund – process IOD forms etc.
• Assist with Health and Safety Administration and compliance
• Assist Department Managers with corrective discipline – issuing of warnings etc.
• Prepare documentation for internal Disciplinary Enquiries, CCMA cases
• Assist with staff events /function planning & Assist with online Labour Reports
• Ability to handle confidential & sensitive information

Payroll Job Duties:
• Processes company's payroll every pay period
• Answers staff questions about wages, deductions, attendance, and time records
• Receives and coordinates requests for leave and other absences
• Handles changes in exemptions, job status, and job titles
• Adheres to payroll policies and procedures and complies with relevant law
• Identifies, investigates, and resolves discrepancies in timesheet and payroll records
• Honours confidentiality of employees' pay records
• Completes payroll reports for record-keeping purposes or managerial review
• Determines organisation's tax obligations by calculating national and council taxes as well as contributions
• Performs the distribution of wages through issuance of payslips to employees
• Supervises other payroll clerks and employees as needed

Personal Requirements:
• Drivers Licence and own car
• Good Oral and written communication skills
• Great organisational skills
• Able to work methodically, accurately and neatly
• Positive healthy attitude

Qualification
• Matric; HR Related Diploma/Degree advantageous
• 3 Relevant experience Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer, Payroll Clerk or similar role
• SAGE Pastel Payroll & Oracle knowledge and experience
• Sound knowledge of all Labour Legislatives
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
