Located in the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape Province, is where the town of Springbok can be found. The town counts a little less than 13,000 inhabitants of which the vast majority speaks Afrikaans. Springbok was founded in 1862, in the valley in the centre the high granite domes of the Small Copper Mountains. Springbok started out as the administrative centre of the surrounding copper mining activities, and is up to this day still the administrative stronghold of the region. Situated relatively close to Namibia, multiple tourists have a quick pit stop at Springbok, as it is one of the bigger cities in this area.
