Assistant Director

Salary: R25 000 neg

Requirements:

This is a senior management position, and applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant management experience. In particular, applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:

Be excited by fashion, and demonstrate commitment to the SANFC agenda
Relevant tertiary education (including 5 plus years professional experience - preferably within the fashion value chain)
Comprehensive understanding of the fashion value chain, and a keen interest in design
Research skills pertaining to trends, market opportunities and product development
Project management and business document writing skills
Supply chain management skills
Strong marketing & social media skills
Proficiency with routine computer software (MS Office, office accounting, databases etc.)
Excellent communication skills

Duties & Responsibilities

Deputising for the CEO
Overseeing programmatic delivery by service providers against a fixed budget and distinct milestones
Preparing reports for all key stakeholders
Developing and maintaining a database of all companies active in the South African fashion value chain
Client liaison to help improve productivity and economic viability
Developing requisite research and analysis tools for market research, trend analysis, product development
Ensuring effective office management
Working with designers to improve their commercial offerings – including business plan development
Marketing of services to and for the fashion industry
Engaging higher education institutions and industry associations around skills development and helping to develop and monitor delivery of requisite programmes.
Representing the SANFC at relevant functions (industry stakeholder engagements, fashion shows, design showcases, media events etc.)
Working with entrepreneurs
Identifying and nurturing new talent

Personal Attributes:

It is imperative that candidates be excited by fashion, be engaging and personable, be effective communicators in all media, highly competent in budget and delivery adherence and business document writing, have excellent time management skills, and be well presented.

This position will involve considerable travel, both nationally and internationally.
