Description
The primary purpose, in terms of priority, is to perform the function of a Business Analyst. The analyst is required to work closely with clients to understand the client’s business and to gain an in depth understanding of the business requirements, document, validate and translate into value add solutions. The analyst is required to present solutions that not only solve the immediate needs of the business, but solutions that fit into the strategic business and technical objectives of the client’s organisation.

The secondary purpose, when the business analyst workload permits, is to develop business intelligence solutions including data warehousing based on business requirements.

Role Requirements
• Plan, arrange and control meetings, workshops and relations with client/user staff during system investigations and throughout subsequent development work. Take responsibility at a high level for the proper conduct of such relations.
• Plan and organize the giving of presentations or training sessions to all levels including senior management.

Business Analyst Role Responsibilities
• Leads the requirements analysis/sessions to identify BI business requirements that represent current, near-term and longer-term business needs
• Uses various methods to collect business and functional requirements for the project, including researching business plans, performing data analysis, reviewing business process descriptions, reviewing existing reports, queries and documentation, and conducting group requirements sessions, one-on-one interviews or JAD sessions
• Coordinates source data profiling activities and incorporates results into requirements documentation, for business validation and approval
• Identify data quality and integrity issues. Provide resolution recommendations after performing an in-depth analysis of issues
• Acts as a translator between business needs and solution delivery, develops detailed specifications for the development team, assists in clarifying discrepancies in requirements, validates source to target mappings and assists in the design and testing of the user interface
• Define and document the required business metadata for the metadata solution
• Provides training support, both from a training development and a training delivery perspective
• Provides testing support
• Prepares assigned deliverables and coordinates review sessions both with the internal team and the client
• Understanding and being able to execute within an agile framework in whatever role is needed;
• To ensure the solutions developed by the team are produced to the highest possible quality in the required time.
• To keep abreast with the technological advancements through self-learning, and transferring this knowledge onto team members.

- BI Developer Role Responsibilities
• With guidance from Data Modeler, build data models including source to target mappings.
• Assist in design of physical and logical and presentation layers
• Translate business requirements into a business dimensional model, key subject areas, dimensions, hierarchies, attributes and measures
• Develop BI Metadata/Logical Data Model
• Assist with performance tuning with regards to reports
• Develop customized dashboards and create custom reports
.

Education & Qualification
• BSc (Information Systems)
• BCom (Information Systems)
• BBusSc
• Professional Qualification Level 6


Relevant Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Information Technology, business or systems analysis or BI development
• Sound knowledge in Data Warehousing / ETL and/or Data Analytics
• Strong DB (preferably Oracle) experience
• Knowledge of relational, star schema, dimensional data models
• Strong working knowledge of PL SQL (complex joins, data modeling, data mapping)
• Experience testing reporting on OBIEE platform beneficial
• Sound industry trends awareness
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate, both orally and in writing, while also articulating and translating technical language to non-technical customers
• Sound time management skills
• Good ability to anticipate issues and formulate remedial actions
• Sound interpersonal and team working skills
• Sound ability to take on multiple assignments
• Good command of written and spoken
