Job Location – Cape Town

Job Description:

Strategy:
• Develop, execute and monitor the Merchandise strategy.
• Forecast, plan and implement the buying strategies to maximise sales, margin and profit.
• Effectively influencing the selection of merchandise in line with the approved product matrix to meet the target customers.
• Communicate department plans and aligning with marketing.
• Analyze consumer buying patterns, tends, sales, gross margin, inventory and turn.

Purchasing:
• Understanding and execution of OTB forecast.
• Plan a profitable range in line with targets.
• Analyse product performance & react to trading conditions.

Distribution:
• Ensuring the team is adhering to critical path on all deliveries including local and imports.
• Monitor and ensure stock levels remain in line with OTB.
• Ensure ordering process is adhered to by teams.

Profitability:
• Achievement of sales margin and sell through objectives.
• Managing OTB & inventory turn.
• Participate in inventory analysis and contingency plan execution.

Supply Chain Management:
• Maintaining, developing and building relationships with suppliers.

Management:
• Manage the performance of staff in order to maximise productivity and achieve objectives.
• Drive innovation and differentiation.
• Foster team building and people development.
• Lead and mentor curators and juniors.

Key Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience in the retail industry as a buying manager.
• Strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills.
• On trend, a taste for style, local and up to date industry knowledge is a must!
• A master negotiator with excellent communication skills.
• Problem solver and solutions driven.
• Strong attention to detail, organized with good time management skills.
• Experience in leading a team.
• Entrepreneurial with a trader mentality.
• Systems savvy with experience using Excel.
• Well presented, confident, assertive and determined.
• Mobile – car, motorbike.
• Tertiary degree.
