Our Client a global leader in Marketing-at-Retail that provides in-store brand communication solutions, by offering retail-marketing strategy, design, manufacturing, installations and logistics. The organization has shown significant growth in the last four years and this has necessitated the strengthening of its team.

Position Overview

The goal of the Designer/Draughtsman (Woodwork) is to suggest design ideas that incorporate functionality and aesthetics. The Designer/Draughtsman will meet the customers’ needs and determine preferences, purpose, function, types of materials and budget when planning interior and exterior environments. The Designer/Draughtsman will then integrate findings and knowledge of interior design to formulate a plan and sell the appropriate products to complete the customer's project.

Responsibilities:

Create new and modify existing 3D models of parts and assemblies using the latest software.
Create new and modify existing part, assembly and installation drawings for final designs per using latest software.
Create new and modify existing 2D and 3D installations and arrangements.
Create new and modify existing engineering Bill of Materials.
Process engineering change orders.


Additional Job Functions

Attend meetings for project designs and department improvement.
Work under direction and guidance of design lead, design manager and naval architects.
Part and assembly models include but are not limited to wood, metal (various), solid surface, cabinet assemblies, and mechanical assemblies.
Expected to work overtime and flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules and departmental needs.
Ensure work areas are kept clean.
Maintain excellent attendance record.

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience using 3D modeling software (SolidWorks Preferred) designing architectural.
• Strong knowledge of woodwork design relating to prototyping.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing tools and procedures.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Experience with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Qualifications and knowledge required:

• High level of attention to detail.
• Able to work in both office and production atmospheres.
• Reliable and attentive and able to work in a team environment.
• Experience in both fiberglass and aluminum desired.
• Previous design experience at a shipyard.

• Related qualification will be an added advantage.

• 5 – 8 Years’ experience in constructing and manufacturing of woodwork.
