District Manager: Health Systems Strengthening

SM Healthcare Placements is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of District Manager: Health Systems Strengthening based Johannesburg, Gauteng for an exciting role within an International NGO in the health care field.

To lead the district team in supporting DoH to strengthen health systems for quality HIV and TB services, be
the key link to DMT and to coordinate all PEPFAR related activities in the district

The post is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng South Africa. SM Healthcare Placements welcomes International and Regional applicants but can only offer a position to those with a valid work permit for South Africa.

The following are the qualifications, experience, knowledge and attributes requirements:

Education, Training and Experience
• Relevant Nursing degree or MBBCH degree (or equivalent)
• Required minimum work experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in public health and HIV Management
• Post graduate degree or diploma in HIV Management or relevant field.
• Good understanding of quality improvement systems, monitoring and evaluation.
• Knowledge of PEPFAR programmes and PEPFAR partners.
• Good organisational and administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ordered and systematic in approach to tasks.
• Attention to detail.
• Pro-active, able to exercise discretion and independent decision-making.
• Able to prioritise own work load and work towards deadlines.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Able to speak other African languages.

Key performance areas

• Manage the Implementation of the WRHI HSS strategy in the district
• Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of Programme plans, in coordination with technical and M&E teams
• Develop and effectively manage relationships with external and internal stakeholders including DoH,
• donors, partners and relevant structures; Serve as a senior representative of the Health Systems
• Strengthening project on both internal and external fora.
• Support capacity building of staff
• Support the implementation of appropriate programme management processes to ensure delivery of
• programme components according to timelines and budgets
• Track and monitor all programme components, using agreed project indicators
• Staff management and effective self-management
