Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment in the department, to ensure that the equipment complies with Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications and acceptable engineering standards, in order to achieve utilisation and performance standards
• A sound technical knowledge and the ability to diagnose faults or problems with equipment, conduct Root Cause failure analysis and recommend remedial action.
• To control and improve the preventative maintenance system, including conducting routine time based inspections to improve plant efficiencies.
• Ensure the availability of sufficient spares and maintain standby equipment in the correct condition.
• Solid understanding and experience in HV/MV (6/6 or 22kV) switchgear and transformers, 380v reticulation, Industrial automation and PLC Programming S7, variable speed drives and instrumentation.

Management / Supervisory skills
• Teamwork Work Co-operation; Co- ordinate and direct a team, works towards bigger picture of the team, issue instructions and follow up (Control)
• Accountable for the planning of work, quality of workmanship and the productive use of personnel in the mechanical department.
• Interaction with other engineering sections and other departments to ensure coordination and cooperation so that the business meets its objectives
• Be responsible for the adherence to safety procedures and safe operation of plant, equipment and jobs under his control. Conduct risk reviews and effectively plan the task
• Shall point out potentially unsafe practices, conditions and equipment to his superiors and improve them. Maintain housekeeping standards in the workshops and offices in his area. Ensure compliance with OHSAct within department, and electrical installation and machinery regulations for the site.
• Will be responsible for the upkeep of all records as determined by the Maintenance Engineer and Company policy and procedures.
• Responsible to maintain discipline in the department. Ability to initiate and chair disciplinary hearings is advantageous.
• Plan, lead, organise and control activities of team and take definitive action on non-compliance
• Training and development of staff (including on the job training), conducting performance reviews and one on one
• Matric/Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
• N4
• Recognised trade test qualified artisan (Electrician/Millwright ), Instrumentation, PLC, Scada
• Minimum 5 years experience as an Electrical Foreman in a continuous Production environment (Large industrial machinery working to close tolerances)
• Proven track record in effectively supervising an electrical maintenance department.

Desirable: N5/Diploma,
Recognised trade test qualified artisan (Electrician/Millwright/Technician),
Tertiary supervisory qualification;
5 yearsplus experience as an Electrical Foreman in a continuous Production environment, preferably pulp and paper. Wireman license

Industry:
Continuous Production facility in the pulp and paper manufacturing sector. Chemical Industry with understanding of Quality of end product, raw materials.

(Not FMCG / Construction or Mining industry)
Administration skills:
• SAP Purchasing (Advantageous)
• Ensure that costs are within budget
• Assist with compilation of maintenance, shut and capital budgets
• Experience in generating shut plans, for bi-monthly and annual plant shuts
• Administrative competence Ability to evaluate information and investigate further/ compilation of reports, computer literate (MS Office)
• Experience in working on a Planned Preventative Maintenance system (DMS Maintenance system advantageous)

• Relocation to Nelspruit area with family (Related to Standby duties and call outs)

2. Certificate of Fitness with no limitations in terms of eyesight, hearing.
Persons suffering from depression, diabetes, epilepsy sufferers, uncontrolled hypertension and any cardiovascular disease sufferers cannot be employed in this position due to the operating requirements of the equipment and the inherent danger of the environment
3. Musculo skeletal conditions with regards to back, neck, hips etc. problems due to mobility requirements of the position
4. Chronic medication with side effects which could influence and affect the ability to work on heights and confined spaces
