Job Title: Electrician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Electricians, who will be responsible for maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment and installations in the underground workings.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Repair, maintain and install relevant electrical equipment associated with mining operations.
Implement recommendations and improvements as prescribed by OEM.
Report defects and breakdowns to the foreman.
Communicate with clients and supervisors to inform on maintenance activities and equipment reliability.
Maintain and create job cards for unscheduled maintenance.
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and mine policies, procedures and standards.
Must be prepared to work outside normal working hours, shifts and overtime if required to do so.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12/N3
Electrician with Trade Certificate through a recognized apprenticeship – with minimum N2 Electrical Engineering
Valid driver’s license (08)
3 years’ post qualification experience as an Electrician
Drill Rig experience will be an advantage
Underground experience will be an advantage
Experience on PLC systems will be an advantage

Other Skills/Competencies:

Independent, proactive thinker and have the ability to do own job planning.
Knowledge of relevant legislation.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Meticulous in following equipment specifications.
Sound engineering principles with regard to change management.
