Job Title: Engineering Foreman
Location: Cullinan

Job Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for leading and inspiring a high performance maintenance team in order to meet the business objectives.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Ensure adherence to the Mine Health and Safety Act, Environmental procedures and Company policies and procedures
Effective budgeting and cost control
Understanding on maintenance of conveyors, pumping installations, scrubbers, vibrating screens and various other plant equipment
Understanding on the maintenance of trackless equipment in accordance with prescribed standards and work control methodologies with a focus on continuous business improvement in order to achieve operational excellence
Liaise with relevant maintenance foremen and operational personnel to ensure optimum equipment availability and reliability
Required to work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done
Ensure personal and co-workers adherence to the Company’s safety, health and environmental objectives
Required to work overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise
Coordinate all planned work for maintenance

Minimum Requirements:

Qualified artisan with Trade Certificate / National Technical Certificate (NTC-3) at a recognized/accredited institution
5 years post-qualification experience
Managerial and Supervisory experience at Foreman level
Minimum of 1 year planning and organizational experience in a mining environment
Valid Driver’s License (EB)
PC Literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects) and Windows System

Other Skills / Competencies:
Pass Vienna Assessment - Level 2 (test will be done on Mine)
Knowledge of Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)
Ability to communicate in English (written & verbal) and one other official language
Maintenance planning and control methodologies and implementation thereof
Demonstrate the ability to assess work team requirements
Establish training needs and implement programme for development
Strong leadership capability and ability to manage team

Preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups in line with the Company’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan and internal candidates. Pre-screening, profile testing, on mine assessments, medical and security clearance form part of the recruitment and selection process. Short listed candidates will be required to attend a panel interview. Employment of the successful candidate is subject to the aforementioned criteria. Preference will be given to candidates who reside within our host labour sending area of Tshwane Municipality (proof of residence may be requested).
