A manufacturing company in Cape Town has a vacancy for a Field Service Technician.

Job Description:

* Field support during installation.
* Installer and dealer training.
* Upholding the entity’s values in performing operational support and general management duties.
* Performing the mentioned functions and duties to the required quality and productivity standards as specified by the entity in terms of metrics
and specifications.
* Performing job-related administrative functions.
* Maintaining disciplinary standards in the manufacturing section.
* Supporting and maintaining a safe and productive working environment.
* Rendering support during installation of pivots and related equipment.
* Obtaining a good understanding of the manufacturing process in order to make effective recommendations on corrective actions.
* Evaluating installers’ capabilities and certifying competent installers.
* Investigating concerns and warranty claims and taking effective remedial action.
* Building relationships with the dealer and installer network in the entire sub-Saharan area.
* Ensuring jobs are documented and per the “Jobs” module in NAV and that material and components consumption is documented as per SOP.
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
* Diligent and due care of the entity’s property.

Requirements:

* Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or trade certificate plus N6 in Electrician/Fitter.
* SABI qualification beneficial.
* Must have an understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment, basic irrigation principles and required modules of Navision.
* Leadership skills.
* Must have a basic knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
* Quality awareness.
* Computer literacy.
* Ability to translate work plans into action plans and monitoring actions.
* Good communication skills.
* Sound knowledge in interpreting technical drawings.
* Skilled at the application of technical standards.
* Time management skills.
* Must be honest, reliable and have integrity.
* Must be able to work with accuracy and show attention to detail.
* Must be friendly, patient, supportive and cooperative.
* Solid leadership and problem solving skills.
* A valid driver’s license.
