Due to requirements within the department our client is looking for a black male to fill this role

The IR Manager will support the Group Manager Industrial/Employee Relations in providing an efficient and effective IR specialist service ensuring a true centre of excellence industrial and employee relations service to the business.

Key performance areas will include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and implementing an industrial and employee relations operational strategy;
• Advising on the development of industrial and employee relations policy and procedures;
• Achieve IR strategies and plans in support of business strategy plans and initiatives;
• Coordinating, facilitating and managing industrial and employee relations training;
• Advise line managers and HR Practitioners on industrial and employee relations issues;
• Assist with and conduct various consultation processes with unions and organized labour;
• Assist with negotiating agreements between the company and unions/employees;
• Research labour law, bargaining procedures, economic and wage data with specific focus on the FMCG environment;
• Ensure all IR processes, procedures and practices comply with labour legislation;
• Ensure collective bargaining at various forums are timeously scheduled and in line with existing recognition agreements;
• Compile minutes and action notes flowing from collective bargaining forums and ensuring that agreed items are prioritised and actioned within the appropriate timeframe;
• Building sound employee and union relationships;
• Managing all types of disputes and ensure effective problem-solving at relevant forums.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills/qualifications:

• Relevant tertiary qualification with 5-8 years related experience;
• An employment or labour law qualification would be advantageous;
• Strong negotiation skills;
• Previous participation in union/collective wage negotiations would be advantageous;
• Creative problem solving ability;
• High versatility to adapt to continuous changing environments;
• Strong influencing and decision making ability;
• The ability to handle conflict;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Ability to represent the company in dispute resolution procedures including CCMA;
• Assertiveness with high stress tolerance;
• Sound knowledge of HR business processes;
• Computer literacy in Word, Excel and basic SAP Knowledge;
• Sound facilitation and presentation skills;
• Ability to travel on a regular basis based on the operational requirements of the business.
