Develops strategic, business and brand plans for Africa encompassing all SBUs – viz. Consumer, Professional Power Tools, Hand Tools & Storage; and manages resources supporting the commercial strategy for the region working very closely with Africa Regional Managers and Emerging Markets Group (EMG) Strategic Business Unit (SBU) leaders. Minimum Requirements

· Very strong marketing and leadership skills with a proven track record of leading the marketing function within a multinational company in Africa (Sub-Saharan Africa experience desirable)

· Strong knowledge of the region and market

· >10 years experience in Marketing out of which at least 5 years should be in a leadership role.

· Graduate with additional Masters level qualifications in Marketing or Business Management

· High degree of numeracy and commercial orientation

· Business-level English comprehension both written and spoken. Well honed presentation skills.

· Persuasive communication and influencing skills.

· Ability to work in a highly matrix environment. Strong relationship building, networking and teamwork

· Advanced level MS Office skills to independently manage information and develop presentations.

· Must be willing to travel extensively within Africa and overseas

Job Specification

1. Create market plans in line with the business and growth strategy for the region

2. Articulate the market landscape for the business & product portfolio with respect to the following:

1. Market volume in value and market prices

2. Market trends (price, delivery time, new regulations, new channels to market)

3. Competitors intelligence (strategy, market share, productions capabilities, product & offering, new technologies, trends)

4. Brand and product landscape

5. Launch & Achieve new product launch objectives for Africa

6. Work with the EMG SBU heads, Regional Business Leaders and Product Managers to develop the product road map for Africa, NPI and commercialization plans

7. Ensure working capital objectives are met by working closely with Sales and Supply Chain for a robust S&OP process and inventory management.

8. Devise and implement key trade and brand marketing programs for Africa

9. Own pricing and mix management to ensure achievement of margin improvement objectives.

10. Lead the marketing team and invest in enhancing the overall marketing capability and marketing orientation within the organization.

11. Contribute to the enhancement of product and applications knowledge amongst the sales & marketing team.

12. Work with the leadership team to drive the equivalent of BBBEE objectives in individual countries.
