Job Title: Instrument (Mechanician) Artisan
Location: Clayville JHB
Salary: R35 – R40 k plus company benefits

Purpose of the job:

Be able to perform all artisan functions related to food plant instrumentation and control system maintenance, operations support and fault finding.

Qualifications and expertise required:

• Minimum: Grade 12 with Maths, Science and English literacy & NQF 6 instrument trade test certificate
• Strong wish: Red Seal certification
• Strong wish: N6 certificate industrial instrumentation
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified artisan
• Driver’s license (code 08)

General job requirements:

• Travelling to service providers when requested
• Support to mechanical/electrical maintenance and production when requested
• Participation in artisan standby duties
• SAP experience will be an advantage
• Computer literate
• Must be able to handle high demands of pressure
• Must have liquid process experience

Specific job requirements:

• Strong instrumentation and control system skills and experience
• Execution of tasks associated with maintenance inspections and strategies
• Able to assist with modifications/upgrades on existing control systems
• An ability to scope and execute small projects
• Instrumentation calibration and maintenance abilities
• Loop tuning
• An ability to read and interpret instrument loop drawings, control logic diagrams, data sheets and associated technical documents
• Instrumentation IMS inspections (SHERQ)
• Utilisation of and adherence to RCA procedures
• Compliance to the MOC process for changes to existing plant and equipment
• Data extraction and analysis (fault finding, trends etc.)
• Control valve overhaul, inspection and test experience
• DCS experience (Honeywell Experion)
• PLC experience
• SCADA experience
• RTU and Telemetry systems experience
• Sound knowledge of wireless instrumentation systems
• A practical understanding of IS and SIL
• A practical understanding of EX and hazardous area classifications
• QA/QC experience with instrumentation installations
• Shutdown planning and execution experience
• Full compliance to section 14 of the OHS act
• A working understanding of the Electrical Installation Regulations (EIR) and Electrical Machinery Regulations (EMR)
• Proactive identification and correction of defects and preventative maintenance
• A practical understanding of COCs (specifically for 110Vac installations), their legal implications and when these certificates are required
