LWG (Leather Working Group) standards knowledge / experience

Permanent, full time position
Starting date: ASAP
Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
Salary: R25 000 + Benefits
Benefits: Retirement benefit of 7.5% of basic as a cash payment, 50% co-payment for medical aid contributions, discretionary bonus (13th cheque). 18 days’ annual leave.

Qualification: Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent) with a relevant tertiary qualification: Certificates in HSE legislation)

• At least 5 years’ working experience in a similar position in the automotive / leather industry
LWG – specific to the leather industry and standards internationally. They have strict environmental standards and we require someone who knows these standards.
• Excellent computer literacy in MS Excel / Word and PowerPoint
• Assist in compliance and assessments to HSE requirements.
• Prepare and maintain relevant HSE & LWG management and performance reports.
• Promote incident / accident prevention and investigate and report on occurrences thereof.
• Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE & LWG training.
• Maintain good relations with staff, suppliers, customers and regulatory authorities.
• Monitor and track the status of the HSE & LWG and take corrective actions as required.
• Conduct HSE Meetings / Training and schedule as required.
• Maintain master documents for HSE & LWG management system.
• Keep abreast of HSE legislation, permits and updates and ensure compliance
• Track all occupational survey deviations and implement the relevant corrective actions.
• Assist in emergency response and compiling of IOD reports.
• Oversee behaviour based / observation safety programs.
• Quarterly planned job observations.
• Assist in administering and maintaining compliance programs.
• Report non-compliance with local HSE laws to relevant internal staff.
• Assist with Environmental aspects and impacts.
• Assist in the development of HSE & LWG actions plans to achieve objectives and targets.
• Conduct the necessary internal audits, inspections and checks to verify effectiveness.
• Assist in the preparation and participate in third-party audits EMS, H&S, LWG.
• Prepare & provide input to HSE management reviews
