Job Description:


* The employer is a leading water vessel manufacturer.
* The main purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer is to provide general support and optimisation to all production line manufacturing processes.
* Identify and investigate areas where process/product optimisation and improvement are possible.
* Liaise with other manufacturing support functions as part of investigation.
* Quantifying the problem based on historical data.
* Set up action plan, method of tracking change performance and identify responsible parties.
* Implement action plan based on the above-mentioned points.
* Review implementation and monitor if successful.
* Update action plan based on feedback.
* Do research on waste reduction projects/initiatives.
* Identify and investigate manufacturing processes/product components that are accompanied by challenges relating to safety, time and quality.
* Set up action plan, method of tracking change performance, departments to be involved, risks involved and documentation platform to be used.
* Review implementation (performance) and compare with historical data. Continuously track implementation.
* Identify modifications to implementation action plan based on continuous tracking data.
* Do research on advancements in the industry.
* Provide general assistance and guidance to manufacturing line in order to meet production targets.
* Understand new design/project scope and identify possible process improvement and optimisation initiative, as well as means of implementation.
* Discuss new design/project with design department and relevant manufacturing support functions.
* Identify possible risks involved with project relating to safety, time and quality.
* Update the necessary field in the milestone tracker and make sure deliverables are met.
* Implement action plan for prototype.
* Actively support the introduction of the build progress & provide feedback to design team on any changes.
* Identify possible process improvement and optimisation initiative, as well as means of implementation.
* Review and update risks involved with project/design relating to safety, time and quality based on prototype (in collaboration with relevant departments).
* Work with design and manufacturing departments to correct build issues and mitigate risks identified.
* Set up a deliverables and immediate actions list for the roll out of design onto the production line, based on the prototype build.
* Implement deliverables and immediate actions list.
* Provide general assistance and guidance to manufacturing line to ensure successful introduction of new models.
* Provide support to all lines and workstations
* Perform ad-hoc tasks as and when required.
* Provide assistance and support to other departments where required.


Requirements:

* Minimum qualification: Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering.
* Ideal qualification: Bachelors in Manufacturing Engineering (NQF Level 6).
* At least 3 - 5 years’ working experience in boat building or similar manufacturing environment.
* Experience with Solidworks advantageous.
* Experience with Syspro advantageous.
* Advanced Excel advantageous.
