World-class Manufacturing operation situated in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, has the following challenging opportunity:

Must have a BSc Engineering or equivalent in Computer Science/Information Technology
At least 3 years’ experience in SCADA, PLC, Fieldbus Communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet, Controlnet) Visual Basic or Visual C Programming and database programming (SQL, Microsoft Access, etc).
Knowledge of plant data servers and managed/unmanaged networking, wireless networking, etc is also essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be in overall control of the computerised management information and manufacturing execution systems (MES) in the Ladysmith factory.
He/she will be responsible for the development of new computer systems to integrate with machines and report on shop floor activity to enable centralised planning and data collection.

Preparing annual capital and maintenance budget for MES systems •
Investigating new systems to prepare the factory for the future •
Managing and developing existing computer infrastructure •
Developing new computer systems in conjunction with Engineering including SCADA, MES and data logging systems •
Managing and developing a factory database •
Developing Factory Reports •
Training personnel on systems •
Communicating with Production and Engineering to determine factory needs •
Managing new factory projects in Durban and Ladysmith • Standardising systems.
Candidates must hold a BSc Engineering or equivalent in Computer Science/Information Technology with at least 3 years’ experience in SCADA, PLC, Fieldbus Communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet, Controlnet) Visual Basic or Visual C Programming and database programming (SQL, Microsoft Access, etc).
