Our client based in the North of Durban is looking for Material / Logistics Manager. The incumbent will be expected to manage the functionality of materials managementt, logistics department and maximise productivity in the factory

Responsibilities:

Manage the functionality of the materials management / logistics department and thus maximise the productivity in the factory
Develop the factory's materials management strategy that will contribute positively to the divisional production targets
Lead and manage the departmental Human Resources and ensure that such resources are optimally utilised
Ensure the development of employees within the materials logistics department in line with the company's overall 8-BBEE strategy
Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives in order to continuously minimise operating costs
Generate and manage materials management related budgets
Minimise overtime as far as possible
Manage all materials management projects as may be required from time to time.
Manage stock movements in the factory and the placement of parts orders both local and imports
Liaise with local and abroad suppliers
Schedule periodic stock taking activities
Monitor stock adjustments on the MCBA System
Practice and instill the culture of the LEAN philosophy with the materials management department
Requirements:

Matric plus a Diploma / Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent Certificate or Diploma in Project Management
5 - 7 years managerial experience in the Logistics I Materials Management environment
Understanding of the seasonal working environment
Intensive understanding of the import systems
Communication skills - (both written and verbal)
Good interpersonal skills
Sound Industrial Relations skills. especially in a unionised environment
Proficiency on the MCBA Inventory System
Computer literacy - (advanced MS Word, Excel and Power Point)
Six Sigma Certificate would be an advantage
