We are urgently recruiting for a Merchandising & Promotions Supervisor, reporting to the Regional S & M Manager. The primary function of this position is to manage an efficient and effective merchandising and promotions team through on-job training, motivation, coaching and staff development in order to deliver merchandising/promotion strategies that are superior to the competition and meet merchandising targets. The position will be mostly out of office, own reliable car is essential. We are not recruiting for in-store merchandisers and internal sales people. This is a supervisory role, overseeing the merchandising & promotional team (+- 30) located within 35 stores, covering from Hammersdale to Amanzimtoti (South) and Umhlanga (north). You will be required to visit these stores, this means that the role entails most of your time on the road. Key Responsibilities:

Merchandising Management – Overall management of in-store maintenance by merchandisers (price labels/driving share of shelf/stock on shelf/stock rotation etc); Motivate, coach the merchandising field force; Develop, implement and manage the merchandiser territory cover plans on a daily basis; Manage the Rate of sale per store, Rate of returns, Crates management, Merchandiser/Promoter quarterly plan, Staff turnover.

Promotions Management – Overall management of in-store maintenance of promoters (PMG’s/promotional displays/gondola ends/pricing strategies/price labels etc); Timeous delivery and collection of P.O.S./ promotions execution and displays; Initiate own value added initiatives; conduct regular analysis and feedback of promotional activities to MM; Monitor post-promotion sales and make suggestions to maintain sales.

Effective Personnel Management – Ensure roster is in place for Promotion/Merchandising staff; Ensure all stores are covered at all times implementing back up for absenteeism; Monitor performance; Ensure merchandiser/promoter incentive scheme is effectively implemented and monitored; Ensure timeous submission of figures relating to incentive scheme and calculation of wages; ongoing development and training of team.

Customer Liaison – Manage store relationships and provide feedback to S & M Manager; Customer complaints

Sales Management – Oversee sales orders on a daily basis; Overall management of returns by merchandising/promotion staff; Monitor sales targets & pricing in stores etc.

Minimum requirements of the job:

•Matric
•Relevant tertiary qualification an advantage
•Min 3yrs merchandising exp in FMCG environment, in a supervisory role
•Code 08 unendorsed driver’s licence
•Own car essential
•Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

General

May be required to work over weekends and public holidays
Expected to work overtime as required
