Gateway City College is an independent further education & training institution that is accredited with the Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET), Umalusi and the Quality Council for Trades & Occupation (QCTO). We also have courses accredited by Independent professional bodies such as ICB & MERCETA.
The roles will be responsible for all payroll-related functions for the entities, this includes payroll processing, stipend processing, statutory reporting, leave administration and HR and payroll reporting over a number of different payrolls.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Capturing new employees onto Pastel
• Checking and ensuring all take-on and termination documents are correct prior to processing payroll
• Calculating and processing payments to employees by cash, cheque or electronic transfer, ensuring they are both on time and accurate
• Assisting the process of loading and paying stipends for Interns; and reconciliations of all stipends after first round completion
• Importing bank transfer files to process pay
• Create and run salary sheets and reports
• Administering garnishee orders
• Running and auditing leave files and ensure all leave is updated on a monthly basis
• Paying PAYE, Skills Development Levy and UIF on a monthly basis and providing monthly electronic updates of staff UIF
• Issuing of IRP5’s and IT3a’s
• Apply to SARS for tax numbers for new employees
• Print and distribute salary slips
• Submitting all statutory returns
• Prepare and submit a reconciliation of PAYE deductions annually and e-file for SARS
• Prepare all statutory returns for submissions to 3rd parties in respect of all payroll deductions made and filing of the same
• Responding to all payroll-related queries and complaints and rectify accordingly
• Producing payroll reports as and when requested

Requirements

• Payroll Diploma
• A minimum of 3 years relevant payroll experience
• A minimum of 1 years’ experience of working with Pastel Payroll and HR or a similar electronic payroll system
• Good knowledge of MS Excel
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Multi-task
• Able to meet deadlines
