PRODUCTION & MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Our client based in Vanderbijlpark (Vaal Triangle) is looking for a dynamic and experienced P & M Manager with the following:
To achieve world-class manufacturing targets through sound management skills in line with lean manufacturing principles as contained in the
Managing the performance and conduct of the production supervisors and maintenance team leader engaged in these processes / activities.
Ensuring that safety, housekeeping and SABS ISO standards are maintained.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Engineering Degree (preferably in mechanical engineering, or electrical)
Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) (GCC)
Advanced Management Qualification
Productivity Certificate or Diploma
Experience in Lean manufacturing


EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a Production / Maintenance environment of a manufacturing entity.
• 4/5 years’ experience in a management capacity.
• Computer Literacy – working with an integrated ERP system (LN preferred) and also working on - MS Office (Word, Excel, PP, MS Project, )
• Managing Processes and Process Improvement
• Sound knowledge of MEIBC Main agreement, BCEA and labour relations act.
• Good understanding of the OHS Act.
• Knowledge of Corporate governance principles applicable to the procurement processes.
• Tracking and reducing manufacturing waste using OPEX initiatives.
• Strategic planning

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety, People Management and Meetings
• Ensure full compliance to all national OHS Act requirements and the company’s Occupational Health and Safety regulation and policies.
• GMR2 appointee for the facility.
• Responsible and accountable for complete implementation and maintenance of the “5s” in the facility.

Production
• Achieve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets, by managing the OEE downtime buckets to within set Operational Excellent target levels/
• Ensure online production recording system is used hourly / daily / monthly and also to review your performance during the shift and end of business day.
• Plan for and ensure that maintenance tasks and machine service requirements are performed on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
• Maintain buildings and site, and all other fixed and movable assets in optimum condition.
• Compile annual budgets detailing maintenance costs.
• Monitor and control expenditure ensuring adherence to budgetary targets.
• Ensure engineering expertise is provided around required machine operating parameters, tooling, and related manufacturing processes in compliance to the company’s BDP and TIS.
• Manage 3rd Party maintenance service providers in terms of safety, cost, quality and service.
• Identify and submit justifications for capital expenditure projects, and implement approved projects through to successful completion.


Quality Control, Inspections, PCDS and QM system
• Ensure all products are manufactured to the company’s Quality Procedure Manual standards and shop packet requirements. Evidence of any deviation to be corrected immediately.
• Review and analyze all PCDs for the different sections and ensure that all required corrective actions are addressed.
• Ensure that NCR’s and Customer complaints are completed timeously and closed off in the system.
• Track CSI ratings and work with Commercial and Logistics to attain the targets (KPI).

Reports and Internal Relations
• On a daily basis ensure that line operations attain target volumes on time and in full to customers (OTIF). Attend daily production meetings.
• Attend action plan meeting to optimize plant capacity and run time.
• Attend weekly planning meetings with Commercial and Logistics to ensure production capacity is aligned to customer demand.

Manage factory controllable costs
• Appropriate systems in place to monitor and manage factory expenses (maintenance items, consumables, overtime, manning etc).
• Initiatives in place to encourage cost saving and development of a cost saving culture.
• Internal audits and managing findings
• Ensure internal audits are conducted for ISO/GMP/5S audits and involve teams in improvement actions.

General
• Deal with customer complaints in line with company procedures / visit customers when required.
• Assist with troubleshooting and solving of technical problems on the line.
• Liaising with suppliers in terms of all technical issues relating to paint, linings and solvents.
• Authorize all leave, unpaid leave, sick leave and compassionate leave for direct reports.
• Approval of weekly timesheets for all factory employees and contractors.
