Key Processes
Ensure safety management systems are implemented throughout all departments in the role’s remit, and driving a ‘safety’ culture. Responsible for achieving the highest safety standards and eliminating LTI’s in department.
Control operational performance to achieve annual production targets and associated plant objectives.
Ensure continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing methodology is embedded and used as the key process in identifying and prioritising plant losses.
Control operational costs against budget and deliver cost reductions.
Manage the performance of production teams and developing them through regular reviews.
Through appropriate management style, foster a culture of engagement, commitment and continuous improvement within the plant, coaching and developing a leadership style amongst the management population that will support this culture.
Manage employee relations issues.
Prepare and submit capital applications. Complete approved capital projects on time and in budget.
Support the Plant Manager in the formation of the plant business strategy and play a key role in delivering against the strategy.
In some cases, stand in for Plant Manager in their absence and assume responsibility for the plant.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Degree in Engineering essential
SAP knowledge and experience
Lean Manufacturing/Continuous improvement course
Lean manufacturing principles
Experience in managing production teams within a manufacturing environment, at least 5 years.
Experience of continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing programmes
High degree of numeracy and analytical skills
Intermediate PC skills
Excellent communication skills
Coaching skills
