Professional Nurse

A Healthcare Company who is passionate about providing Clinical Care to HIV positive adults, children and adolescents is currently looking for a dynamic and driven Professional Nurse based in Pretoria

To assist the Project Manager to strengthen district and community level health services to pregnant women by means of supporting the use of cell phone application to reduce maternal and child mortality.

Education, Training and Experience
• A basic qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse; plus a post basic nursing qualification (Advanced Midwifery Nursing Science) with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC;
• South African Nursing Council
• A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• At least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1 year post basic qualification.
• At least 4 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognisable experience at management level.
• Knowledge of functioning of Help Desk.
• (Please note: Appropriate/recognisable experience in the context of these requirements also includes experience gained after registration in the particular discipline in a foreign country, and which registration is recognised by the SANC for registration in the particular discipline).

Key performance areas
• Provide technical and strategic support to the Project Manager in maternal and neonatal health care, especially midwifery.
• Represent the Project Manager in the National Department of Health
• Maintain personal competency in maternal and neonatal health care, in particular the midwifery component.
• Assist with the mentorship of nursing and allied health professionals and community health workers.
• Support the Help Desk manager to provide support to Provinces and Districts when required.
• Primarily assist users answering all questions and complaints with regards to service delivery related to maternal and neonatal health care
• Ensure that compliments received are brought to the attention of the Help Desk Manager, the Facility Manager and the respective staff member(s), through the district focal person.
• Facilitate and ensure effective communication with all management structures within the district, the regional and Provincial Department of Health.
• Support the Help Desk Manager to communicate with Provincial Managers and District Focal points around the complaints and compliments received.
• Monitor the complaints and compliments received, identify problem areas by District and Province and update the National data base.
• Assist, support and participate in quality improvement cycles in Health Facilities.
• Participate in the implementation of an effective monitoring and evaluation process, with effective use of data and appropriate reporting on outputs and health:
• Generate weekly and monthly reports related to the complaints and compliments received
• Participate in management meetings when required.
• Assist the Help Desk coordinator and the Project Co-ordinator with strategic and operational planning of services with the support of the project office
