Programme Manager

One of Africa’s leading research centers, that engage in research, training, policy-formulation and advocacy is currently looking for a dynamic and driven Programme Manager based in Johannesburg.

To manage a multi partner clinical research consortium housed for Sexual and Reproductive Health, HIV and Related Diseases

Education, Training and Experience
• Masters degree in Public Health or related field
• 5-10 years’ experience in an HIV or global health field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing multi partner projects.
• Certification in good clinical practice (GCP).
• Extensive experience working with donor funded programmes and multiple stakeholder engagement.
• Experience working with the media. Able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Positive, energetic team leader with an ability to adapt to complex situations.
• Adaptable, willing to take initiative.
• Strong organizational skills with an accurate approach to work, attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Key performance areas
• Managing day to day operations and coordination
• Develop and maintain organizational structures
• Ensure alignment of project deliverables and status between studies and within consortium
• Convene all partners on a regular and ongoing basis
• Understand and manage team dynamics within multiple partnerships
• Provide technical and logistical support to the study development and management process such as site readiness activities and other activities required for the implementation of the trial
• Ensure compliance to the budgets
• Human capital planning and management with Protocol Chair
• Work with the financial manager to develop the relevant budgets
• Work with trial sites and core teams to develop the work plans and timelines for their structures
• Provide continuous strategic guidance to all stakeholders
• Continuous assessment of priorities within consortium
• Facilitating the implementation of the strategic plan
• Act as a point person between partners
• Facilitate synergy between internal and external partners
• Support the RHI Executive Director with research for related projects, papers and presentations as determined by the Executive Director
• Develop and implement a communications plan for the consortium
• Write and contribute to publications
• Provide feedback to all stakeholders
• Write and/or compile internal meeting reports and communications
• Facilitate the ongoing communications between consortium and external partners such as donors, sponsors and other clinical research groups
• Compile donor proposals
• Compile and disseminate donor reports
• Facilitate and coordinate communications across trial sites
• In conjunction with the Communications Manager, maintain relations with the media and keep them informed on relevant study information.
• Develop and conduct presentations on behalf of the consortium
