Quality Controller / Quality Control Inspector

Salary: R20 000

A specialised mining equipment and precision engineering services is currently looking for a dynamic and driven Quality Controller to join there dynamic tea.

The main responsibility for this role is to assure consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good automated manufacturing practice (GAMP) systems; validating processes; providing documentation; managing staff.

This is a new role within the company, the Quality Controller must be able to get it up and running, working very close with the QA Manager.

Education, Training and Experience
• 2 – 5 years’ experience
• Minimum 5 years in quality
• Engineering background
• Preferred the have experience with 3D Machines
• Excellent English written and spoken communication skills;
• Strong skills on operating MS office, AutoCAD;
• Certification (valid locally and internationally) as NDT Inspector level II in UT, MT, PT, VT is highly desirable
• Heavy steel industry (Machining or Fabrication) experience
• Proven knowledge of Quality Standards and International Codes, ability to interpret drawings and defining standards & procedures
• Fluent in English
• Must be able to use al measuring equipment including Elxo meter, deceiable

Key performance areas

• Provide technical assistance to the teams (work planning, quality control and record keeping);
• Provide overall guidance on the selection of appropriate technical options, and ensure applicable and reliable quality control systems to maintain & improve performance of projects;
• Provide training to site engineers on Quality Control and work planning;
• Final inspection, test and sign-off of all manufactured items to Drawings
• Conform to ISO Standards and practices, including validation and management of quality procedures.
• Actively participate in Quality Management processes and conduct quality audits (internal and external) to ensure quality standards.
• Responsible for issuing of NCR’s to line supervisors / in-process quality personnel and following through until closed out
• Co-ordinate final inspection quality stats and those received from in-process quality personnel on a weekly and monthly basis
• Co-ordinate and maintain register for test boxes and jigs and to conduct monthly checks.
• Maintain a register of company equipment.
• To assist in-line inspectors where help is needed i.e. to provide input to in-process inspection methods and improvements related to the job.
