This global company is one of the world's leading manufacturers in their industry. They are currently seeking the services of a Technical Manager, who will report to the VP-Africa.

Purpose of the Role:-
Maximize the utilization of available resources that will ensure the customer demands and quality requirements are met.
Manage all resources to ensure that the set specification / quality control and performance requirements are supplied.
Analyze all raw materials and suppliers to ensure the appropriate grades / quality and performance criteria are achieved at the minimum cost.
Assist training of all Sales / Internal Sales / Quality Control and Procurement and develop a highly trained team that is able to assist and exceed performance standards to ensure they remain the preferred supplier of choice.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:-
National Diploma in Packaging or relevant tertiary qualification.
Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in flexible packaging.
High level of numeracy.
Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office / BAAN.
Analytic skills required at high level.
Very high levels of retentive memory and assimilation ability.

Role and Responsibility:-
Manage the quality and technical requirements needed to produce the labels.
Develop highly skilled and high performance Quality, Technical and Pre-press teams that consistently achieve and exceed performance standards, targets and KPI’s.
Satisfy and conform to customer demands (quality, quantity, on time) and requirements and maximize utilization of resources.
Approve and manage product technical specifications to meet specific performance requirements.
Ensure Africomms function at optimum level.
Ensure that Health & Safety standards are met.
Ensure that housekeeping of the highest standards are achieved and maintained.
Ensure that machines and equipment are capable of running the specified materials at highest efficiencies.
Ensure compliance to ISO 22 000.
Investigate customer quality complaints; determine root cause and implement a corrective action that will eliminate reoccurrence.
Cost and budget management.
Trials management to ensure trialled / approved on customer machines.
Training of technical skills and know how to all sales/QC and Procurement.
Ensure product runs on customer’s machine effectively.
Ensure new product development actioned with customers and approved.
Technical support to sales team to develop project and cost out initiatives.
Develop strategic sources of raw materials and relationships with suppliers.
Ensure new developments are highlighted to sales and management to action new opportunities in the market.
Very good knowledge of packaging machinery and the requirements required to optimize performance.
