Senior Researcher: Adolescents
ASAP

A Healthcare providing Clinical Care to HIV positive adults, children and adolescents is currently looking for a dynamic and driven Senior Researcher in the Adolescents programme to be based in Johannesburg

The purpose of this position is to lead the design and implementation of research related to sexual and reproductive health and HIV among adolescent populations

Education, Training and Experience
• PHD in appropriate discipline (SRH, HIV, Adolescents) or,
• MBBCH with a public health higher degree
• Registration with the HPCSA
• Minimum 5-8 years research experience
• Prior experience in the management of research programmes.
• Strong writing and successful grant application track record.
• Management of research programme with a research record of an on-going output evidenced by at least five published papers
• Experience in public health will be an advantage
• Experience in implementing independent projects
• Membership of Professional/School/Faculty/ Department Committees and/or taking leadership roles in the Public Health domain within the Public or NGO sectors

Key performance areas
• Conceptualize and implement operational research activities within the adolescent programme alongside the adolescent team.
• Undertake evaluations and research activities for pilot projects and other interventions implemented in the programme.
• Write research and funding proposals
• Write research protocols and SOPs for qualitative studies
• Develop and design research tools
• Monitor the progress of research projects
• Conduct data collection, verification and analysis.
• Perform quality assurance on data as well as oversight of planned operational projects.
• Generate reports, and presentations to share results with stakeholders.
• Publish scientific articles
• Disseminate research findings to relevant stakeholders
• Respond to RFAs, grant applications and various funding opportunities to advance the research team within the adolescent programme
• Liaise effectively with relevant review boards (Ethics Committees, Protocol Review Boards), donors, research networks, Community Advisory Boards, media, NGOs, Department of Health and universities (local and international) / academic institutions
