SPECTROCHEMICAL LABORATORY SHIFT TEAM MANAGER, MIDDELBURG, RNEG

REQUIREMENTS:
• NATIONAL DIPLOMA ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY + 5 YEARS LABORATORY EXPERIENCE IN STEEL INDUSTRY
• MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY QUALIFICATION AT JNR LEVEL REQUIRED (INCLUDING EXPOSURE TO LEGISLATION SUCH AS OHSACT AND LRA
• KNOWLEDGE OF QS PROCESSESS, SANSAS ISO17025, XRF & OES SPECTROMETERS AND/OR LECO GAS ANALYSERS
• COMPUTER LITERATE IN MS OFFICE, LIMS
• WILLING TO WORK SHIFTS

JOB SPECIFICATION
Your primary responsibilities will be to monitor, manage and coordinate the team, equipment and processes to ensure that sample preparation and analyses are performed according to customer service agreements and company procedures and ensure the validity of test results released on shift.
You will also be expected to manage team performance in relation to turnaround time, targets and KPA’s, enforce discipline, support training and development of team members and ensure safe working practices are followed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry coupled with 5 years Laboratory experience is required. A management/supervisory qualification and exposure at junior management level (including exposure to legislation such as the OHSACT and LRA) are preferred.
Knowledge of QC processes, SANAS ISO17025, XRF & OES spectrometers and/or Leco Gas analysers will be advantageous.
Computer literacy (MS Office, LIMS).
Strong communication, analytical problem solving, planning and organizing skills and a detail orientation.
Willingness to work shifts, the ability to handle pressure and work independently.
