Job title: Unit Manager- Maternity Unit

Reports to: Nurse Manager

Location: Mossel Bay

A vacancy exists for a Unit Manager (Maternity) in Mossel Bay. The successful
candidates will be responsible for managing and coordinating clinical practice and resources within the unit to achieve company and hospital objectives of quality, growth and people.

Qualification & Experience:

·Degree/Diploma in Nursing

·Certified
qualification in the specialist discipline is essential

·Must be currently registered with SANC

·Experience in Maternity Unit

·Must be flexible to work on both day and night duty

·Basic understanding of labour legislation, financial and chain management principles

·Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.

·Driver’s
licence and ability to travel

Duties and Responsibility

·Effective clinical leadership

·Lead the implementation of the nursing care plan and co-ordinate and facilitate the delivery of the correct treatment plan within the correct MDT program in order to achieve clinical outcomes

·Function as a Clinical expert in achieving patient outcomes

·Promote customer satisfaction within the Unit

·Participate in business planning and budgeting processes and manage nursing costs accordingto the budget

·Ensure staff are trained on the operation of the equipment within the unit and together with the relevant stakeholders ensure equipment is in working order to provide a safe patient environment

·Implement national quality initiatives within the Unit with the focus to improve clinical
outcomes and report accordingly.
